Cappawhite National School's movie, The Christmas Truce of 1914, has won Film of the Year at the 2023 FÍS Film Awards.
The short film is all about the famous ceasefire between British and German soldiers on the Western Front during World War I. It also scooped the Outstanding Cinematography prize.

The FÍS Film Awards 2023 recognises the creative talents of primary school children across Ireland.
The FÍS Film Awards 2023, hosted by RTÉ's Sinead Kennedy, is a collaboration between the Institute of Art, Design and Technology and the Professional Development Service for Teachers It was devised as a grassroots initiative to nurture Ireland’s future moviemaking talent by encouraging them to devise, develop, produce, and submit their short films for consideration in a range of categories.
The event was co-produced by students of IADT’s National Film School and streamed live on the official FÍS website. The full awards show will be available to watch next week on YouTube.

About the FÍS Film Awards & FÍS Film Project
The FÍS Film Awards Ceremony is the highly successful outcome of the FÍS Film Project. The awards set out to celebrate and embrace the creativity, imagination, originality, special techniques such as animation and special effects that students learn during the process that enabled them to give outstanding performances both in front of and behind the camera.
