Phil of Science was delighted to get a question from Willow in Cork. What is 3D printing?

You might have heard about it before or even seen some cool videos online all about, but in the Hub Lab, Phil is going to explain it a bit more and fire up his own printer to show you one in action.

The demonstrtion starts simply to explain how you build things that lock in together and even more compex and larger things need to apply these ideas.

These printers were first used in the mid-1980s and have developed to allow us to create everything from houses and even now to make food.

During the first lockdown Libraries Ireland loaned their 3D Printers to companies to print face shields and other personal protective equipment.
