7 things you need to know about Youth Work Ireland Week 2026

Youth Work Ireland Week 2026 celebrates the power of young people to Get LOUDER and Drive Change - it runs from 11 to 18 April nationally.

Throughout the week, Youth Work Ireland's 20-member youth services will host a wide range of events and activities in communities nationwide. These will include workshops, youth-led discussions, community events, showcases, and opportunities for young people to connect, learn, and share their experiences. Here are 7 things you need to know with information on how to get involved!

1. It's a Celebration of Youth Work and Young People

Youth Work Ireland Week celebrates, showcases, and promotes the range and impact of youth work services across communities in Ireland. It highlights the everyday work of youth services and their positive outcomes for young people, their families and communities.

2. There is Something for Everyone

Youth Work Ireland and it's 20-member youth services are located all across Ireland - check out the full listing here. Collectively we engage with over 75,000 young people a week through a range of supports, events, activities and programmes which range from your Friday night youth clubs, mental health support, music programmes, outreach projects, youth information services, LGBT+ groups, employability programmes and counselling services to name but a few.

3. Events are taking place all over the country

Throughout the week, youth services will run a wide range of activities, such as workshops, community events, creative projects, and showcases, demonstrating the diversity and reach of youth work.

LOUDER Youth is the theme of the week!

4. Each year has a theme – LOUDER Youth

The theme for Youth Work Ireland Week is LOUDER Youth. This campaign will support young people to explore activism, advocacy, and collective voice through group activities featuring art, movement, and music.

5. It creates opportunities for advocacy and engagement

The week is used to amplify young people’s voices, promote participation, and advocate for investment in youth services, encouraging wider support for the sector at local and national levels.

6. There is Engagement with Decision Makers

As part of Youth Work Ireland Week, young people and youth workers will meet with TDs and Senators in an informal Oireachtas Briefing on Wednesday, 15 April in the Freemasons Hall, Molesworth Street, from 12-3pm. This is an annual event and will see up to 80 Oireachtas members attend

7. How to Get Involved

Members of the public can get involved by contacting their local youth service and are encouraged to follow the campaign online, attend local events, and support the work of youth services in their communities.
