Oíche na hÓige: A night to shout about Youth Work for All

Youth Work Ireland and its member youth services will celebrate the first ever Oíche na hÓige on Friday 21, November.

On the night youth centres, clubs, projects and programmes will be opening their doors to welcome members of the local community, local and national public representative, parents, volunteers and young people to celebrate young people.

This exciting new initiative by the Department of Education and Youth is a night to recognise the transformative impact of youth work in Ireland, from informal learning and creativity to leadership, belonging, and wellbeing.

To mark Oíche na hÓige Youth Work Ireland's member services will host local events, exhibitions, performances, and open nights across the country. These events will showcase the diversity of youth work practices, from arts-based and digital youth programmes to youth cafés, outreach projects, and inclusion initiatives, all grounded in the belief that young people are active citizens and co-creators of community life.

Oíche na hÓige is also a moment to shine a light on the Youth Work for All campaign which positions youth work as a right and a lifeline that supports young people face challenges, grow in confidence, and find belonging. And every young person, wherever they live and whoever they are, have a right to quality youth services in their community.
