What's Next?: Great ideas for greener ways to get from A to B

Young disruptors Jack, Kate, and Ruben take on the transportation industry on the new RTÉ show What's Next? They explore water, land, and air transport through visits to innovative experts.

Paired with celebrity researchers: social media star Adam Beales, actress Demi Isaac Oviawe and comedian MC Fitzpatrick. They compete to come up with a big idea that will impress judge Fionn Ferreira and make it to Grand Final where they will pitch to a mystery millionaire investor.

Adam and Jack dive into water transport, Demi and Kate cruise into land transport, while MC and Ruben soar with air transport. Press play up top where Demi heads to Galway to see a very different car.

Adam is the captain of the ship!

At the workshop, the teams race against the clock to come up with their own groundbreaking ideas. They then present their original concepts to our judge, Irish inventor and entrepreneur Fionn Ferreira who will choose a winner.

We want everyone at home and at school to take part too. Teachers can download the activity packs and notes below:

The big pitch

  • Adam and Jack unveil hovercraft trainers that let you walk on water in style!
  • Demi and Kate introduce Food Fuel Scooters - turning yesterday's leftovers into tomorrow's journey to school.
  • MC and Ruben present The Teletubey - a pneumatic air system for lightning-fast city-to-city travel.

Fionn evaluates the pitches based on his four criteria:

  1. Imagination
  2. Achievability
  3. Green creds
  4. And could it change the world?

Whose idea will be the standout? Which team will zoom its way to the grand final, to compete for the Golden Brainbox and the chance to impress a millionaire investor?

Stream the series now on RTÉ Player or tune in to RTÉ2 Thursdays at 5.30pm. Send in your ideas to whatsnext@rte.ie - we'd love to hear from you.
