This is Art Club! is back for a third series and in the first show we explore some of the ago old principles of art. First up, we take a look at Balance and Symmetry as we make a special mandala and much more.
Tune in to RTÉ2 Thursdays at 5.30pm and stream the show on RTÉ Player!
In the season opener, we catch up with a young group of artists from Ferns in Wexford who are on an art making adventure in their local woods.
Inspired by radial symmetry they set out to make a mandala from the foraged elements they find such as apples, leaves, pinecones and flowers. Press play up top to see their beautiful creation.
In Co Waterford, we make a special visit to the workshop of a young wood turner named Tom who makes beautifully balanced pieces of art from reclaimed wood.
While artist-in-residence Ross, is accompanied by young artists Tadhg and Grace, as they set up their easels in Dublin Castle where they create art that is inspired by the symmetrical classical architecture found in Dublin Castle.
While in studio, we join Shane and a young group of artists, who inspired by symmetry found in the animal kingdom, are busy creating large-scale wire moths.
Of course, after you watch the show we know that you will be keen to create and this is your friendly reminder to enter This is Art! 2024.
