This is Art Club! returns for a third series to showcase some of the amazing art being made by young people from across the country with host and artist Shane Keeling.
All you amazing artists are asked to assemble every Thursday at 5.30pm on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player! Press play up top to watch the promo.
The TIA! studio has set up home in the RHA School (Royal Hibernian Academy) in Dublin with special studio visits and masterclasses from artists like Blaise Smith, Una Sealy, Vivienne Roche and Deborah Donnelly who share their top tips for making incredible art.
Each week, we'll be exploring some of the different elements of art - like balance, symmetry, harmony, unity, movement, proportion, scale, contrast, composition, repetition and rhythm. We’ll be learning what the rules are…and of course, how to break them!
But, we do have one rule! After you watch the show you have until 3 November to enter the This is Art! competition!! Find out more at rte.ie/thisisart.
Artist-in-residence Ross Carvill has been let loose around the country where he’ll set out on some unusual art making adventures with local youngsters exploring how the world around us can influence the art we make.
'Never go anywhere without a sketchbook' is Ross’ motto and in this series Ross visits the circus, the zoo, the seaside and even treats us to a drawing tour of his favourite spots in New York City.
As usual our team of young Art Club reporters will be catching up with all sorts of projects and art-happenings across the land. We’ll be checking in with young creators and craftspeople who showcase their skills in puppetry, woodturning, lace and felt making.
We’re finding what creative antics are afoot across the length and breadth of the country with young creators showing us the how’s, what’s and why’s of their amazingly diverse artistic hobbies including lacemaking in Headford, woodturning and felting in Waterford and puppet-making in County Clare.
And, we catch up with recent winners of the annual This Is Art! Competition with profiles of winning artworks from Dublin, Donegal and Waterford. In Galway we drop in on group category award winners at St Joseph’s Special School as they get busy with a group cyanotype workshop.
Tune in to RTÉ2 and stream the show on RTÉ Player every Thursday at 5.30pm!
If you can't wait till then, stream Series 1 and Series 2 now on RTÉ Player.
