Are you coming to the Fleadh? Well, 350 young Music Generation members from across Ireland will be there to showcase the next wave of trad talent on Tuesday, 6 Augsut.
Ceiliúradh Music Generation Lá and Oíche, an event produced by Music Generation Wexford and Ad Personam Cultural Events, is a unique collaboration between Comhaltas and Music Generation for the Fleadh.
Ceiliúradh Music Generation Lá will be the first event in Wexford Credit Union Dome, packed with amazing young musicians. There will be short performances from traditional music groups from around Ireland, including: Rithim Trad Orchestra- Music Generation Wicklow, Reel-Nua, Intermediate Trad Ensemble- Music Generation Carlow, Waterford Harp Ensemble- Music Generation Waterford, Reel Óg Junior Trad Ensemble- Music Generation Carlow, Yellow Bellows Teen Vocal Ensemble- Music Generation Wexford, Waterford Intermediate Ensemble- Music Generation Waterford and Tradoodle -Music Generation Cavan.
Then at 7pm Ceiliúradh Music Generatio Oíche will commence with a dynamic performance from Nasc, which is a collaboration between Oriel Centre Dundalk Gaol, Nós Nua Youth Folk Orchestra and Music Generations Louth, Meath, and Cavan/ Monaghan.

This talented young musician ensemble will showcase their own original composition, led by Lisa Canny who has an international reputation as an alternative folk musician, is a 7-time All-Ireland champion on harp and banjo and was named 'Future Music’ Songwriter of the year. Lisa described her anticipation of performing the event: "It has been wonderful working with the incredible young musicians that make up NASC, bringing together an original suite of music called The Circle of Life. We look forward to showing Wexford our masterpiece."

Grainne Meyer, Harpist, Composer and Lead Musician working with Music Generation Ireland Harp Collective (which is a collaboration between Music Generation Louth, Laois, Waterford, and Mayo) described their original composition, which they created over several months, as a "journey through a storm, using WB Yeats' poem 'Mad as the Mist and Snow. We are all excitedly looking forward to sharing our collective work at the upcoming performance in Wexford at the Fleadh!"

Ceiliúradh Music Generation Oíche will have two County Wexford Vocal Ensembles performing. The captivating Clonroche Traveller Girls Group (who are supported by Wexford Local Development, Wexford Fleadh Committee, Music Generation Wexford and Wexford County Council,) with Music Generation Musician Educators Elizabeth Drwal and Emily Furlong, will perform a vocal set and lead the group performance with all musicians and audience members of the Traveller ballad ‘Wexford Town’ written by Pecker Dunne.

Stellar Teen Vocal Ensemble, Yellow Bellows, who are led by Music Generation Musician Educators Anita Mahon and Diarmuid Comerford and who recently led a performance of 2,000 children in Chadwicks Wexford Park, have a growing reputation for their ‘supercool’ performances in Ireland and abroad. They will perform some exciting vocal pieces and a fun, interactive body-percussion performance of a traditional Irish Reel.

In addition, there will be performances from Music Generation Tipperary and Kilkenny Trad Ensemble, Reelig Senior Trad Ensemble- Music Generation Carlow, Waterford Senior Ensemble- Music Generation Waterford and Trad Ensemble, a collaboration between Music Generation Laois, Carlow, Waterford, and Wexford.
Wexford native and National Director of Music Generation, Rosaleen Molloy, says she is "incredibly proud of all the young people involved in Comhaltas Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann Wexford 2024. Music Generation wishes them every success for what promises to be a spectacular musical event."
