Ireland's Fresh Film, an organisation who nurture our next generation of filmmakers, have taken home a major prize at Cannes Film Festival. They won the Community Impact Award at the Screen International Global Production Awards.
The awards ceremony, which took place on Monday night, saw Fresh Film win the award amidst formidable competition from NEOM Media Industries in Saudi Arabia and Osiyo, Voices of the Cherokee People (US).
Jayne Foley, the Artistic Director and founder of Fresh Film, said: "Our mission has always been to empower young voices and this award validates our efforts. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the young filmmakers who share their stories with us and continue to inspire us every day," said Foley.
"Fresh Film continues to champion the next generation of filmmakers and this honour provides a powerful reminder of the importance of creating a community of young film-makers and supporting their storytelling," she added.
RTÉ's Young People's Department are proud to work with Fresh Film alongside Screen Ireland on some amazing projects, including the recent Fresh Film Awards and the Fresh Film Hothouse Project. These initiatives support amazing young creatives.
