Lights, Camera, Action! The Fresh International Film Festival, RTÉ, and Screen Ireland roll out the red carpet for Ireland's Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards 2024 tonight on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player at 7pm.

With the spotlight firmly on young cinematic talent, this year's event promises a thrilling blend of creativity, inspiration, and a glimpse into the future of filmmaking.

Guiding us through the evening are the fabulous hosts; the multi-talented actor and comedian Faye Shortt alongside the vibrant radio presenter Gemma Bradley. Their infectious energy will have us all buzzing, making it a night to remember, .

This year, Fresh International Film Festival, generously supported by the Arts Council, received an overwhelming number of submissions from young filmmakers worldwide, reflecting the vibrant diversity and talent in young storytelling. From heartfelt dramas to thought-provoking documentaries, the shortlisted films offer a captivating journey through the lens of tomorrow’s storytellers.

Suzanne Kelly, Head of Children's and Young People's Content at RTÉ said: "It's back! One of my favourite events in the calendar year, the Fresh Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards, 2024. About Fresh Film

Founded in 1997 as the Irish School's Video Competition, Fresh Film was originally a schools competition for secondary students. It has since grown into a year round organisation with a focus on national and international filmmakers spanning the Primary and Post-Primary age groups.

Fresh International Film Festival includes Ireland’s Young Filmmaker of the Year Awards, featuring three sections; Junior (7-12 years), Senior (12- 18 years) and International (7-19 years). Each section is open to individual filmmakers, schools, youth and community groups.

Fresh Film runs programmes throughout the year under four headings; Fresh Education, Fresh International, Fresh Production and Fresh International Film Festival.
