Post-Primary Schools: 6 things to do for STEPS Engineers Week

Running from 2 to 8 March this year, STEPS Engineers Week celebrates engineering and aims to promote STEM subjects and engineering careers to students.

Engineering is a fascinating discipline that students of all ages enjoy becoming involved in an Engineers Ireland's STEPS programme has made a range of excellent, free resources available to primary school teachers and students to help light up their classrooms with interesting activities to mark the week.

Wind Energy with Wind Turbines

The Engineers Ireland STEPS team has created the Wind Energy Challenge Packs, designed for students to explore sustainability in engineering. Secondary school students take on the Wind Turbine Challenge, exploring what engineering and wind energy is through our discussion guide as well as gaining an understanding of wind turbine design though our worksheets.

As Creatives Engineering Everywhere: PowerPoint Quizzes

Do you have what it takes to get top marks in the STEPS Engineers Quiz? As Creatives has created family-friendly quizzes to explore engineering at home and challenge each other to see who the ultimate engineer is!

This resource consist of PowerPoint quizzes exploring engineering, with a short introductory film. There are two secondary school quizzes to choose from, suitable for two different age groups. The video above contains an Engineering Quiz Introduction for you to play for the class.

STEPS Engineers Week encourages young people, their teachers, and parents to explore the creative and limitless world of engineering and the diverse opportunities a career in the sector can offer.

The week-long celebration of the engineering profession in Ireland, is managed by the Engineers Ireland's STEPS programme and funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science and industry leaders Arup, the EPA, ESB, Intel and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).
