Kinetic Art: It's a cross between an art class and a workout!

This week on This is Art Club! we follow the path of inspiration with an episode dedicated to the LINE.

At the Pumphouse in Dublin Port, 4th students from St Laurence O'Toole’s Primary School make vibrant drawings using the power of their bodies to create spectacular kinetic artworks. It shows all the fun you can have creating art and that it's for young kids too! You can see how they go in the video up top!

Back in the studio, artist-in-residence Ross teaches pupils from Francis Street School different line brush techniques. Working together, they create a giant snake drawing, full of different brush strokes and patterns.

While Shane joins pupils from Coláiste Chill Mhantain as they make lino prints inspired by their favourite animals.

We travel to the heritage town of Lismore, County Waterford to meet young artist David Feeny who spends his spare time drawing out incredibly detailed drawings of his hometown’s high street.

Artist and educator Trióna Sweeney shows us an ancient drawing hack for mastering perspective and students from D7 Educate Together NS make their own vanishing point perspective drawings.

In Galway, This is Art Club! reporter Indira visits Línte na Farraige (Lines of the Sea) project. The light installation highlights the potential impact of rising sea tides on Galway’s coast as a result of climate change.

The show also asked young artists to enter This Is Art! 2023. The competition is closed for entries and the winners will be announced as part of Cruinniú na nÓg on 10 June.
