Ruth Medjber: A snapshot of life as a music photographer

On this episode of This Is Art Club! we are all about The Sun. And, for photographers like Ruth Medjber, the light plays such a key role in what she does.

With Ruth's help, reporter Ella learns how to take photographs of stars. Together, they go to a music festival to take photographs of performers. See how they got on in the clip above!

Ruth is also a judge for This Is Art! 2023 so don't forget to get moving on those entries now!

We let The Sun shine in the Art Club studio this week, as we discover how sunlight keeps us both warm and inspired.

Ruth and Ella go behind the scenes at a music festival.

Pupils from Preston Secondary School Warrenmount show us their unique stained glass inspired project. With the help of presenter Holly, they install the finished design onto a large round window in the NCAD Painting Studio.

Artist and educator Clare Breen from Visual Carlow helps pupils from D7ETNS School create their first ever Cynotype print. Harnessing the power of sunlight, they create a large-scale print to transform the specially dyed fabric into a work of art.

At St Patrick's CGS, pupils are creating artworks inspired by the ancient moment of Newgrange and the mysterious triskele symbols carved into the walls of the site. Triskele are believed to represent the cycle of life, powered by the Sun.

Ross teaches pupils from St Audeons National School how to draw around shadows cast by the sun. Using these abstract designs, Ross and the gang cut out the shapes and create a collage in homage to French master Matisse.
