Draíocht Youth Voices: Showcasing amazing young musicians

Music Generation Galway City present Draíocht: Youth Voices, a series of performances from brilliant young people using their art to speak to everyone.

The aim of the project is to promote their creativity and music. Enjoy these young singer songwriters and musicians from across Galway City here, with new showcases coming soon.

Supported by the Local Creative Youth Partnership with the GRETB and Creative Ireland, Draíocht is a Music Generation Galway City programme which promotes youth voices through this series.

Featuring young people from Foróige Ballinfoyle, Doughiska, Ballybane and Youth Work Ireland Westside Youth Project, Draíocht: Youth Voices is a series of beautifully filmed live music performances showcasing a mix of original and traditional songs.

PJ & Annie Mongan

PJ and Annie are two young Traveller siblings from Ballybane in Galway City. The duo have a passion for a wide variety of music genres including folk, pop and country & western.

They take part in their local Foróige youth club in Ballybane in Galway City with youth worker Martin McDonagh. They also work with Musician Educator David McGloughlin from Music Generation Galway City to learn, create and record music that interests them.

Nora Staunton

Nora Staunton is a songwriter and musician from Mayo. In addition to writing her own music, Nora plays drums in grunge/punk band Puck. Her influences include Sir Chloe, Indigo de Souza and King Krule.



Shannon and Shirley Ward

Shannon and Shirley Ward are 18-year-old twin sisters from Galway. They have been singing literally their whole lives. "We've been influenced by a lot of singers growing up, like Christina perri, Taylor swift and Avici."

"As we got older our community and family became our greatest supporters, providing the opportunities to perform and record music on a professional level. We are extremely grateful for the help and support on our path, especially as we go on to release our first original song."

Joseph Arosomade and Danny Keane - Foróige Ballinfoile

Danny Keane is a singer, songwriter and musician and busker from Galway city. Danny has performed to

Raise awareness for jigsaw, won the individual award for singing on the street during Covid to raise communal spirits and has performed in front of Louis Walsh making it to the last 20 of thousands, unfortunately not making the final cut.

Joseph Arosomade is a singer and songwriter from Ballinfoyle, County Galway. He loves singing and performing for people. It is the thing he loves to do most and brings him a lot of happiness. His aspiration is to be a professional singer filling out stadiums around the world and Joseph is in first year Sound and Music Engineering.

Music Generation Galway City is a performance music education service for children and young people in Galway City that provides opportunities for children and young people to access a range of high quality, subsidised vocal and instrumental tuition in their local area.

It is managed and supported locally by The GRETB, Galway City Council, Galway City Partnership, Foróige, Youth Work Ireland, CYPSC, Aras na nGael and Involve. Initiated by Music Network, Music Generation is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Skills and Local Music Education Partnerships (LMEPs).
