In a brand new film from India, Last Film Show, is all about a young boy named Samay falls in love with film by learning the projectionist's job.
Sneaking into the local cinema, he makes friends with projectionist Fazal who teaches him the skills of projecting, such as how to thread a projector with 35mm film, or how to splice film together.
Before the film, there will be a workshop with the IFI projectionist, in the projection booth. Participants will see how a projector is threaded up, how film is put together, and how, nowadays, with the push of a button, the magic of cinema continues. Places for this unique workshop for 10+ are limited.
The film Director, Pan Nalin, credits all the filmmakers who have influenced him, at the start and end of the film. In between we watch how Samay and his pals try to figure out how to capture light and project images themselves, all the while the role of the projectionist is changing, through the arrival of digital cinema.
