Watch: A trilogy of female-powered music videos from Misneach

It's always a good time to celebrate the women in our lives that have made us who we are and what we are.

That's exactly what inspired a trilogy of songs and videos from Misneach. They're a group of Cork teens working with Garry McCarthy and The Kabin Studio crew to empower young women in the area through music.

Shine Through is the third and latest song in the series. It is about empowerment, being yourself and not letting other people dictate your life for you. You can watch the video up top.

The first video for the song No Worries (watch it below) was Directed by Rosie Barrett who also made the video for Gemma Dunleavy's Up Da Flats.

The groups says: "For us, taking pride in our femininity. Our goal is to encourage people to be themselves and educate the community on the many challenges we face as.

According to one of the young artists involved, Cara Cullen, it's "dedicated to the nurturing female figures from our childhoods."

She says: "Our Misneach (Irish word that means courage) project is all about female empowerment with the goal of encouraging young women to be themselves and educating the community on the many challenges we face.

"We are a group of six teen singer/ songwriters from Cork aged between 14 and 17. We have been writing our own songs through youth music projects over the past few years. Cara and Sophie first made a song together at a workshop in the Kabin Studio back in 2018 and over the years the other members, Chloe, Charmaine, Rosaleen and Róisín, have gotten involved through various youth rap and songwriting projects.

"The Misneach project was carried out at The Kabin Studio which is a creative outlet for young people in Knocknaheeny, Cork City. The Kabin encourages self-confidence, creativity and musical passions, providing a safe space for young people to express themselves through music and art and to make friends."

"Pressure is a song about how some women feel under pressure to look a certain way with the constant need to uphold unrealistic beauty standards shown in the media.

The song is to show women that there is no such thing as the "perfect look" and that each woman is beautiful in their own way."

The project is supported by St Patrick's Festival x TikTok Creative Fund.
