The 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo starts in less than a week and RTÉ will be helping the nation cheer on Team Ireland once again.
When you are watching on TV you will see there are lots of sports and within those sports there are different categories.
A system has been put in place to minimise the impact of impairments on sport performance and to ensure the success of an athlete is determined by skill, fitness, power, endurance, tactical ability and mental focus.
This system is called classification and is explained in the video up top from our friends at Paralympics Ireland.
And here is another video on classification for Para Swimming!
You can sort of compare it all to the usual classifications in weight category, gender or age. Classification provides the essential structure for competitive sports.
It all means that we have fair competition for people with disabilities.
Let's all get behind Team Ireland!
