The Engineers Ireland STEPS programme is encouraging young people, their families and teachers to explore the creative world of engineering, so that they too can dream, invent and create like real engineers.
Ireland’s rich engineering heritage
Ireland has produced some of the world’s leading engineers, from John Phillip Holland, inventor of the first submarine to Alice Perry, the first female graduate of engineering in Europe, and Peter Rice, an award-winning Arup structural engineer who played a central role in the development of the world’s most celebrated buildings, including the Sydney Opera House, Lloyd’s Building in London and the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
During STEPS Engineers Week, find out more about Ireland’s rich engineering heritage and how today’s engineers are pushing the limits of ingenuity. From online workshops, spectacular shows and student activity packs available in Irish and English, join Engineers Ireland’s largest celebration of the engineering profession.

Free engineering resources and activities, such as teacher challenge packs for primary and secondary school students , engineering trails and quizzes, available in both English and Irish.
