You can always count on Maths Week

You might have heard it mentioned on After School Hub that Maths Week 2020 is here until 18 October with a LOADS of online events and projects for schools all over Ireland.

Since its launch over 15 years ago, the all-island event has grown to be the biggest such festival of maths and numeracy in the world and 2020 is sure to bring fun and excitement to all ages. With over 250,000 pupils registered, COVID-19 hasn't put a stop to the engagement and enjoyment of maths.

A fun, all-inclusive celebration, Maths Week promotes and develops a positive attitude towards maths in young people, and a wider awareness of the importance of maths across all sectors of society. Cross-community and cross-border participation is an important part of Maths Week.

This year’s celebration will look a little different with health restrictions meaning few physical events can take place. However, the fun and magic of Maths Week will be replicated in lots of virtual events across the week.

There are loads of primary school resources HERE

Go to www.mathsweek.ie to have a look at all the great stuff on offer. There are updates all week too on Facebook @MathsWeek2020 and Twitter @mathsweek with #mathsweek20 opening up the conversation to everyone.

Running throughout the course of the week will be the new MathsWeekTV which will be hosted by people who are passionate about teaching maths in a really fun and engaging way.

Co-ordinated by Calmast, Waterford Institute of Technology’s STEM Engagement Centre, Maths Week is supported by Department of Education and Skills, SFI Discover Programme, Department for the Economy Northern Ireland, ESB and tech firm Xilinx.
