Thinking outside the box

Jacob Holden is the latest of Young Irish Film Maker we are showcasing. His film The Box includes some very clever editing and filming techniques that show us to think outside the box!

Although this young filmmaker may seem shy, Jacob's voice is loud and proud when it comes to directing. With pockets full of wisdom in camera work, editing and directing, Jacob understands the importance of understanding the process to make the best possible end product.

Jacob goes through his techniques for creating his movie, but these methods apply to any film that you would like to make yourself!

Check out his top tips here.

Jacob is a very creative young person who also enjoys animating and reading.  All of this comes in handy when you want to make your characters come to life.

Young Irish Film Makers (YIFM) is the national film, animation and digital media organisation for young people across Ireland.

Our mission is to make film making and animation accessible to all young people. Anyone aged between nine to 25 years can take part in one of our practical training workshops in schools, youth clubs, summer camps and residential programmes.
