Lughnasadh or Lughnasa is a Gaelic festival marking the beginning of the harvest season.

This year to celebrate Heritage Week Nenagh Arts Centre are running a 'Harvest Knot for Lughnasa' exhibition. It is a cross-generational project that blends Irish Heritage with contemporary culture.

Lughnasa, traditionally marked by communities working together to bring in the harvest, is a time of celebration, fairs, dancing and family gatherings.
Along with the making of the straw Cailleach, Harvest Knots and Love Favours were created to either wear for good luck or exchanged as tokens of love.

Watch the video at the top to learn more about the folklore and have a go at making your own Harvest Knot with this workshop...
