Shoot some hoops!

Basketball is Ireland's number 1 indoor sport. Club basketball has over 30,000 members in Ireland and membership has grown by over 66% over the last 5 years. Plus, a further 50,000 players play in over 800 secondary schools!

There are 8 international squads at Under 16, Under 18, Under 20 and Senior level along with Development squads at Under 15’s and Under 17’s. 

The sport has a 50/50 gender balance when it comes to participation. It embraces diversity and attracts people from all communities. There are over 220 clubs island wide including 52 National League sides.

Cispheil

Cispheil is a Primary Schools basketball event for children aged 8-12 in Cork. The event is a mix of competitive, non-competitive, mixed and special school blitzes.

Around 2,100 boys and girls from 105 Cork Primary Schools took to the Basketball Courts of Neptune Stadium, Parochial Hall, Scoil Bernadette and Fr Mathews Arena in Cork in 2019 as part of Cispheil na mBunscoil.
