Saying No

It can be a lot harder to say "no" to someone than it is to say "yes". Múinteoir Ray discussed ways you can politely say no without hurting another person's feelings.
It is important to have the confidence to say no if you are being asked to do something you don’t want to do.
Let’s have a look at some more situations you could find yourself in. Write out how you could politely say no to the other person without getting angry or aggressive. Discuss your answers with an adult.
1) You are walking to school with your friend. The friend suggests that you don't go to school today and that you both sneak off to the park to play until school finishes. What would you say to him / her?

4) You have recently got a new set of markers from your aunty and you decide to bring them in to school. A friend of yours, Jonathan, asks can he use the markers. You are not ready to share the markers, they are only new, and you have not used them yet. Write a letter to Jonathan that tells him no. Explain why. Be mindful of how Jonathan will feel reading your words.
