Back in May, Great Lighthouses of Ireland and Fighting Words asked 7-12 year olds to create some lighthouse stories and become Young Storykeepers.
These short videos explain what life was like at 4 lighthouses around Ireland.
Nearly 1,300 young authors answered the call for stories, poems, illustrations and more inspired by lighthouses - from every county on the island of Ireland and beyond. So many fantastic entries were submitted that we're publishing them all in a multi-volume digital magazine over the next few months.
For Cruinniú na nÓg on Saturday June 13th, we’ll be releasing the first volume Young Storykeeper.
In addition to this showcase of stories, poems and illustrations, we are excited to share several of the stories that were animated by the brilliant volunteer team at Fighting Words as well as short films from the Great Lighthouses of Ireland team about our famous lighthouses, such as Fastnet, Ballycotton and Rathlin.
Everyone still has the opportunity to get creative in the lighthouse spirit with the free, downloadable colouring book!
We'd love to see your artwork, parents/guardians can share videos/photos of your creative efforts with us by tagging Great Lighthouses of Ireland, Fighting Words and Creative Ireland on social media.
Check out all the lighthouse-inspired creativity on www.fightingwords.ie and www.greatlighthouses.com!
