Fact Vs Opinion

Múinteoir Ray taught us today, that some questions have one correct answer (fact) and other questions have no de?nite answer (opinion).

Write down whether the following questions have an answer that is a fact or an answer that is an opinion.

Remember: You don't need to answer the question (unless you want to do that as well), just write either fact or opinion beside it.

Game: Delightful Debating

Here's a fun game to play with family at home.  You need at least 2 players, some pieces of card or paper, and something to put them into (a bowl or a box).

  • Write different topics on cards or pieces of paper.
  • Put the cards into a box and pick one at random.
  • Set a timer of 60 seconds per person.
  • Each person has to give their opinions on the topic as quickly as possible, and then reset the timer and the other person gives their opinions on the topic.  You can agree with the topic or you can disagree, but you must give reasons.

Here are some examples of topics you could use, but feel free to make up your own!

  • People staying at home, is better for nature.
  • School uniforms are good.
  • Recycling is not important.
  • Homework should be banned.
  • Summer is the best time of the year.
