What We Learned
Múinteoir John taught us about currency today. Here are some of the things we learned:
- Many countries use the same money as us and some use different types of money. In Ireland, we use the euro.
- The type of money a country uses is called its currency.
- We use a decimal point when working with money. The number before the decimal point is the number of whole euros we have. The number after the decimal point is the number of cents we have. For example, €1.20 is one euro and 20 cents!
Activity: Money Maze
See if you can help Jim and Jane get to the shop to buy more plants with their euros.
Stay-At-Home Supermarket
Why not make your own shop at home for you and your family, to practice using Euros and paying for different amounts? Put prices on objects, make up a name and a sign for your business, and set up shop! Send pictures to the RTÉ Home School Hub website.
Send us pictures or videos of what you have done. Ask your parents to help you send them to rte.ie/learn
