Join Jack the Virtual Tour Guide at the Irish National Heritage Park in Wexford to find out about Ireland through the ages:
Mesolithic
Jack introduces the first people to hunt and gather on our shores 10,000 years ago, did they really hunt apples with bow and arrows?!
Neolithic
Jack has moved on 4,000 years and discovers how farming has made his life easier, though he still puts cow poo on his walls!
Megalithic Tombs
In Megalithic times (some 7,000 years ago) it was common to bury the dead in Dolmen Tombs. Portal dolmens were the most numerous megalithic tombs in Ireland. You might even be able to see some in your area.
Brownshill in County Carlow, Poulnabrone in Co. Clare and Carrowkeel and Carrowmore in Co. Sligo are examples of Portal Dolmens you can visit but you will find lots more online which may be in your area.
Virtual Tour Guide Jack explains how to build portal dolmens in this video, where he uses a unique method of measurement - badgers!
