How To Make: Mad Hatter Bunny Ears Hat

Focus on the construction of the bunny ears hat first:

1) Measure your head by taking a piece of string and wind it around your head at the top of your ears.

2) Measure the length of the string with your ruler then measure a piece of tall card to meet that measurement.  It is the length of the card and not the width/height that should match the length of the string.

3) Fold the card over and tape or staple the hat into a cylinder where the ends meet.

4) Choose the colour for your hat and paint the cylinder at this stage.

5) Next, place the cylinder on a sheet of card and mark out the shape of the brim, including flaps that you will be taping or gluing inside the cylinder to form the hat.

6) Start cutting from around 2 inches away from the cylinder circle you have drawn (otherwise the brim will be the same size as the hat and won't stick out!)  Cut out the inside of the cylinder circle as well, going around the flap marks and making sure not to cut them off.

7) Attach this to the cylinder, by taping or gluing the flaps to the inside.

8) Paint the brim whatever colour you like.  It can match the cylinder colour, or be completely different.

9) You can use card of a different colour or a ribbon or fabric to create a band on the hat!

10) To finish, we need to make the bunny ears! Stick white card together back-to-back and paint a little pink in the middle.

11) Place the ears in the band and curl one of them to make it floppy if you want!

How To Make: Easter Bonnet

Just follow the same steps as above, from 1 – 6 and then you can make your hat whatever height you would like. The idea of an Easter bonnet is that it's full of ribbons, chicks, flowers, anything joyful you can get your hands on so get creative!
