Here's a quick and easy way to make bread for you and your family, using the sorts of seeds that many birds love. Ask an adult to help, if you need to!
Ingredients:
- 1 x 500g tub Natural Yoghurt (Full Fat or Fat Free)
- 425g Porridge Oats
- 1 teaspoon bread soda
- 1 level teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon of each: Sesame, Poppy, Sunflower, & Pumpkin Seeds. You can also use 4 tablespoons of just one type of seed if that's your favourite!
How to:
1) After you’ve asked your parent/guardian if it’s ok to use the oven, preheat it to 180°C/Gas 4.
2) Grease and line a 900g/2lb loaf tin.
3) Put the yoghurt into a large mixing bowl.
4) Add the oats, bread soda, salt & seeds and mix well until a thick dough is formed.
5) Transfer to the prepared tin.
6) Smooth the top with the back of spoon.
7) Place in the centre of the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes until risen and golden brown.
8) Leave in the tin for 5 minutes then turn onto a wire tray to cool.
9) Enjoy!
