We're Reem-ing in the years

Reem from news2day is making a move and she wants to say thanks to everyone who helped make the show and her reports so special.

She has recorded a special message above and wrote something for RTÉ Kids...

It's crazy to think how quickly two years have flown by!!

I still remember the day I was offered the job to present news2day, and I honestly couldn't believe it - I kept asking..."Me?? Are you sure??"

I was over the moon to have been offered this job as it truly was a dream job of mine growing up. And it lived up to all my expectations!

You can see Reem's final farewell on air and some highlights from the season below...

I have been so lucky over the last two years to get to wake up every morning knowing I was going to have a good day. How could you not when you knew you would get to spend the day chatting to some really wise kids, doing fun things in school, or getting to meet some cute animals?!

I still remember the morning of my first report and how nervous I was, but how lovely and chilled out all the pupils I met were, they really put me at ease! From that day, I knew I would love this job.

I've learnt so much from every single person I've chatted to, both on and off camera. I've done a variety of stories and have picked up something from each one - I've learned lots of crafting tips, tons of great cooking recipes, I've picked up a general understanding of most sports (and learned how to pronounce a lot of the popular team and player names!) and I've gotten lots of great advice from the wise words of all the pupils I've chatted to.

The news2day gang celebrated 20 years on air in 2023!

There are honestly SO many stand out memories for me that I don't even know where I would start naming them! From my first report, to our Halloween dress ups, to yoga in class, to filming TikToks with Molly, to interviewing the most empathetic, creative, intelligent kids, to a schools Oscars awards, to a Harry Potter day party, to seeing wonderful art exhibitions, to rap battles and fantastic performances, and to spending the day with cute sheep, dogs, seals...any animal, you name it... This job has truly been one of a kind.

And the best part of it all was truly getting to go out and meet the children of Ireland every single day. I know I have spoken to children who I have no doubt will grow up to be remarkable and key members of our society and will help make a difference, not just here, but around the world too! So, I want to say a huge thank you to every single one of you, for letting me get a glimpse into the incredible things you do and trusting me to share your stories - you all made this job far too easy!
