To mark Earth Day 2026, Ecolution, the climate change podcast for young people returns. Here, Producer Nicky Coghlan, tells us what's coming up in Season 6 - listen to Episode 1 up top right now!
Every year on 22 April we celebrate Earth Day. It's a day to reflect on our shared planet and how we're treating it. Our news feeds are so full and non-stop these days that it’s hard to see the wood for the trees.
Stories of nature and climate are pushed further from our attention, replaced by matters that seem more pressing. But the climate crisis is at the centre of all that’s happening. So, with Earth Week taking place right now, it's an ideal time to put this massive issue firmly back in focus.
In case you don't know, Ecolution is the RTÉ KIDS podcast for those who want to make a difference in the fight against Climate Change and lead the charge in connecting with the natural world. We are 100 episodes in and still going strong - we plan on making lots more noise!
Listen to Ecolution on RTÉ or wherever you get your podcasts.
It's a big year for our host Evie Kenny as she looks forward to her Leaving Cert. With the big LC looming there's a lot of studying to be done, so we have added in super subs Max and Sonny Gough, who are more than happy to step in when called upon.
Our young hosts head out to the coast, into the woods and further afield to speak to local and international guests on a trip into the cloudy waters of our changing planet.
This season we’ll talk birds, rivers, squirrels, beavers, bees and so much more. The key part of this show is that we want to shine a light on the amazing people and projects working to protect all creatures - many of which are under threat.
For the first episode back, we spent two days with this year's Climate Ambassadors from the Irish Schools Sustainability Network. They tell us a hopeful story of taking climate action into your hands and making a difference where you live. They developed real world responses to make the places they live and learn more sustainable.
The Student Ambassador Programme empowers students to deepen their understanding of climate and nature issues, hear from global guest speakers, develop leadership skills, and collaborate on projects with peers from schools across Ireland.
Thanks to Codie Preston, Christine Mullan-Jensen and all the ISSN Climate Ambassadors for welcoming us. To find out more visit the ISSN website here - maybe you could be an ambassador next year?!
