A year has passed since Eala, Tomás, Síofra and Eoinín's extraordinary adventures in the Otherworld, and life in the Gaeltacht has begun to settle back into normality. As the four friends prepare to start secondary school, their world is once again upended by the arrival of a mysterious stranger. Soon, they find themselves drawn back into the Otherworld — now under the tyrannical rule of Balor of the Evil Eye.
With fear gripping the realm, hope rests on an ancient prophecy foretelling that Balor will be defeated by his own grandchild. What has this got to do with four young teenagers from the Gaeltacht? Listeners will have to tune in to discover more.
The first season of Ón Domhan Thíos received widespread acclaim. Writers Richie Conroy and Sophie Hodkinson won a Zebbie Award from the Irish Writers’ Guild for Best Radio Script, while the series also earned 'silver’ at the IMRO Awards in the ‘Craoltóireacht le Gaeilge’ category.
Returning cast members this season include Róise, Micil, Alannah Ní Chonraí, Vince, Máire and Darragh Humphreys (Fran the Man). They are joined by new comers including Ferdia, and Páraic Breathnach.
Speaking ahead of the new season, creator Richie Conroy said: "Ón Domhan Thíos is a reimagining of our mythology and folklore for a modern audience. The series is epic in scale and ambition. It simply wouldn’t have been possible without the wizardry of sound designer Paul Rowland and producer Rhiannon Nic Gabhann."
