The whole world fell in love with Adam King when he appeared on the Late Late Toy Show back in 2020. Here, he tells us about all the amazing things he has been doing since then, and about his new animated show Adam Loves Adventure - streaming now on RTÉ Player.

We follow Adam and the Shelby crew zoom into sci-fi adventures, meeting strange aliens, exploring new worlds, learning science, and solving problems with empathy, teamwork, and friendship!

First, we asked Adam to look back on his famous Late Late Toy Show appearance.

I remember it was great fun to be on the Toy Show set, and I really enjoyed being there early in the day before the cameras were on, I was able to have a good chat with Ryan on my own and I really liked that. The studio was very quiet because it was in the middle of COVID and there was no audience.

I also remember having to keep my distance from people which was weird! I enjoyed being on the Toy Show and sharing my virtual hug with everyone, I'm very proud of it.

It's been a while, so tell us what happened next?

Well, my hug went all over Ireland and places around the world, and it even went into space. My Dad wrote a book about it and it won book of the year. We turned my hug into a card as well and it raised lots of money for my two hospitals. I got some lovely letters from the Taoiseach, the President of Ireland and the President of the United States.

I got to do lots of fun things like go back on the Late Late Show a few times, march in the Dublin St Patrick's Day parade, and visit the President's House in Phoenix Park. It was a lot of fun! Recently I had lots of fun writing my first book, Farron's Adventure, for the Winterval Christmas Festival in Waterford. It was a charity book that raised money for the Juniors for Juniors Foundation in Waterford. I loved writing it.

Adam Saves Christmas was your first animation and now you've made a whole series. What was it like making the show?

It was a lot of fun - I really enjoyed recording my character for Adam Saves Christmas and it was a great practice for the first season of the show. I thought the story was really funny as well. I absolutely loved making Adam Loves Adventure Season 1. I loved speaking to the writers and giving them my ideas for the show and seeing some of those ideas come to life in the final episodes. And I really loved recording my character, Adam.

How much work did you have to do for Adam Loves Adventure - there were a lot more lines this time...

There was a lot of work involved in recording my character for Adam Loves Adventure, but I enjoyed every minute of it. My Mam was a huge help. She would practice all my lines with me at home before I ever went into the recording studio and she came in with me for the recordings.

I couldn't have done it without her and without the help from Andrew, Tom, and all the Kavaleer team. It was also really good that I could do the recording at our local studio in Youghal, Claycastle Studios. It was brilliant because I could just pop in after school!

How is school?

School is very good. I'm in 5th class at Clonpriest NS in Gortroe, Youghal, Co Cork. I'm on the school quiz team and the school debating team and I really enjoy that. My favourite subjects in school are Art, English, and History.

What would you like to do when you grow up?

At the moment, I think I would love to be a writer or maybe do something in sports. I'm not sure yet - I'm only 11!
