Kozie Moles is our beloved radio show and podcast for children aged 3–6. Each episode offers a gentle, narrative journey and a comforting space for young listeners to wind down. And in this Christmas Special, the roving family set up 'home' in a cold, echoey church.

As they sip warm tea, the church comes alive. Footsteps tap on flagstones, candles flicker and carollers practice nearby. The rising sun shines rainbow light through the stained glass. A bell rings out its deep, rhythmic tones. Snow begins to fall outside and the Kozie Moles, wrapped in warmth and wonder, settle down to sleep.

And if that hasn’t calmed you enough, find another moment of calm with Wintry meditations for the whole family. Take a wintry walk in the woods with Aoife or curl up in the coziest of Calm with Niamh.

Because Christmas is a tricky time – the noise, the parties, the change in routine – it’s a lot for everyone. But when you’re Autistic it can be overwhelming. Award Winning Producers, Lighthouse Media have collaborated with AsIAm to create A Very Autistic Christmas. Written by children’s author, Aoife Dooley, this is a scripted comedy for an 8+ audience.

It takes the form of audio diaries kept by Hazel. She’s 13 years old, Autistic, and this year she’s determined to get her family to fall in line with her plan for a perfect Christmas: no unexpected visitors, no surprises and no need to keep up all the traditions. Instead, a cosy Christmas where she knows exactly what’s going to happen.

And there's more...

And beside these amazing shows, we’ll also gather some of our Christmas classics from the archive. Once Upon a Pine is a series of Christmas Stories inspired by children, written and performed by Karen Tomkins. Master storyteller Steve Lally gets magical and mystical with his Stories for Nollaig. His tales of wonder and intrigue are guaranteed to weave a seasonal spell over all the family.

Ireland’s Unreal from Hugh Cooney, storyteller and inventor of the internet (allegedly) shares tales of badgers and dogs, Shuggie Boogie and even Pigs on Wheels that are sure to enliven Christmas day, and beyond!

Plus, take a trip to the theatre from the comfort of your own home as RTÉ KIDS presents our very own award-winning pantomimes, The Panto that Starts at the End and The Emperor’s New Duds. You’ll never think about Goldilocks the same way again…

We also travel to Waterford where the Winterval Festival is already in full swing. We met children, on and off the ice who share some of their favourite things about Christmas, from the smells to the food and even how good a boss Santa is to the Elves.

How’s that for a whole heap of stocking fillers!? Head to This is Christmas from RTÉ KIDS podcasts where we bring you the perfect family soundtrack for all your Christmas fun.
