RTÉjr were delighted to bring home a gong at the IFTA Awards. Dembaya, produced by JAM Media, was named the Winner in the Short Film (Animation) category.
The beautiful film, Directed by Borja Espana and Produced by Shauna Cullen and a fantastic team of artists in JAM, was commissioned by RTÉjr as part of the Home series.
It tells the story of a young girl and her family who are forced to flee their African village due to war, and seek refuge in Ireland. As they rebuild their lives, they discover that home is not just a place, but a feeling they create together.
Executive Producer for RTÉjr, Eimear O'Mahony said: "We are absolutely thrilled at RTÉjr that Dembaya from JAM Media has been recognised at this year's IFTA Awards. It has such a unique visual style and an amazing score.
"RTÉjr is commissioning world class animations from Irish studios and we are very proud of that. We would also like to congratulate the team behind Homebird who were nominated in the same category - a great achievement for Pink Kong Studios."
