Rooney is one very excited raccoon. For her first assignment as a newly graduated Park Ranger, she has been sent to Backwoods, the most wild and unruly place on the edge of the city.
She is going to set things right and build Backwoods into a lovely community park for everybody to enjoy and winning Best New Park Ranger at next year’s city awards...and RTÉjr will be there to see how it goes on Stories from Backwoods.
The local animals don't seem to understand why they should follow the rules of the Park Ranger Code. No-one asked them if they wanted their home to be a park and why would they all want to enjoy something together?

In Backwoods, it seems, things are not as straightforward as Rooney would like them to be. But, Rooney makes a new friend - Hare shows up to help. He seems to do whatever he wants, he says he is the ‘smartestest’ animal in the woods, he talks a lot.
Hare doesn’t quite understand the rules either – BUT he is very excited about Rooney’s new projects. And being excited is the most important thing, right? Along the way they also figure out how to be best friends. It’s not easy at first. They seem to feel a different way about even the most simple of things – like who wouldn’t want to eat 5 different types of carrot for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
The good news is that all their different opinions and ideas lead Rooney and Hare to new adventures they would never have found alone. It seems like friendship i even becoming the key to building a wonderful new Backwoods community.
