We Love Books: Here are the Creative Writing Competition winners!

Once upon a time, a long time ago, a brave bunch of valiant young writers took on the might of the We Love Books Creative Writing Competition.

Listeners to our We Love Books podcast wrote in two categories: 3rd and 4th class tackled the theme of "Go Wild" while 5th and 6th class wrangled with the idea of "You're What!?"

Kids from 3rd to 6th class wrote scintillating stories in their hundreds and the panel of illustrious judges had their work cut out for them picking just 10 winners.

They had just 500 words in which to weave magic but in the end, the toughest job fell to the judges in selecting the cream of a very impressive crop indeed.

Our top 10 joined us for a day in the RTÉ studios during which they brought their fantastic creations to life.

In our "Go Wild" category, our worthy winners were Mary He, Ava Derham, Emmet Staunton, Kate Hosey and our overall category winner was Lola-Mae McCormack.

In our "You're What!?" category, our winners were Zoe O'Grady, Aoife Brett Grout, Noah Cooper, Oscar Fulham and the overall prize went to Norah Tinney.

We have hippos headed for the Olympics, midnight treats with some very famous furry friends, touching moments with loved ones, mythical monsters, historical discovers, terrifying tales of horror and intrigue - something to please bookworms across the board.

You can listen to each winning story over the next 10 weeks, from 20 March to 22 May, live on RTÉjr Radio every Monday at 7pm.

Of course, you can listen any time and as often as you like on our We Love Books podcast feed by clicking here or downloading wherever you get your podcasts.

Congratulations to our winners, a huge thanks to all our fantastic entrants!
