news2day: Enter the GPA/ Engineers Ireland competition now!

There's only two week to go until the 8 April deadline for the 'Engineer the Game of the Future' competition.

Engineers Ireland STEPS programme and the Gaelic Players Association are encouraging primary and secondary school students to engineer how the Gaelic Games will look by the year 2050.

news2day went along to meet Ms Devine's fifth class students from St Brigid’s and St Patrick’s School, Drogheda, who are just some of thousands of pupils across Ireland getting involved in this year’s competition.

The All-Ireland competition encourages students to bring their problem-solving, creative and communication skills to the world of sport and to engineer a futuristic vision of Gaelic Games.

Former Mayo GAA star and GPA CEO Tom Parsons came up with the idea. He is a Civil Engineer!

Tom says: "Engineers are the problem solvers to the great challenges our society faces, and I strongly encourage the creative students of Ireland to take part in the 'Engineer the Game of the Future' competition and tell us their visions and ideas for our great Gaelic Games."
