Someone Like Me is a radio show and podcast featuring children and young people from Ireland, who have something unique they want to share with the World.
This eight-part series sees Kate Brennan Harding joined every week by a different young person who will meet and interview a grown-up that is a bit like them.

This series' intention is to celebrate differences, and to empower young people who otherwise might feel isolated because of their differences.

The star of this week's show is Alex Smith. Alex lives in Dublin and goes to St Augustine's School in Blackrock. He absolutely loves school and his homework. He has two sisters, a dog and a cat. Alex is really passionate about sports, especially basketball, rugby and golf.
Alex would like to be a farmer, a golfer and a chef when he grows up.
Alex has Down Syndrome, which means he was born with 47 chromosomes in each of his cells, most people are born with 46 chromosomes. Children with Down Syndrome may not speak the same as you yet, and they may do things a little differently. They may take longer to learn some things, but in most ways they are very much the same!

We paired Alex with Paul Kirrane who is 37 and also has Down Syndrome. Paul is from Ennis in County Clare. Paul won a Bronze medal in the Special Olympics in LA for Golf.
Paul and Alex have met online before, when Paul was running cooking and yoga classes online during lockdowns in the pandemic.
We are so proud to have created this episode, as hearing from young people with different abilities is really important.
Enjoy the final episode from this series of Someone Like Me.
Thanks to Alex's Mum Cathy, and Paul's Mum Mary Rose for all their help and guidance during recording.
