In the early years of the 20th century, Ireland was a place of conflict. In this interactive series, photographer David Cleary returns to locations captured on film a century ago and takes new photographs showing how those settings have changed - or not.
This photo shows a group of Black and Tans causing chaos at the junction of Abbey Street and O'Connell Street. Civilians run away but a photographer, holding his camera and tripod, seems tp be moving at a more leisurely pace! The distinctive curved facade of the Oval pub remains more or less unchanged.
