Matt Loughrey's My Colorful Past project bridges "the gap between history and art", bringing colour to monochrome images. Compare both versions with our interactive presentation. This week, he's looking at a photograph from the RTE Photographic Archive's Murtagh Collection of British soldiers washing themselves at a pump in Trinity College Dublin. "[Working with] group imagery is all about lightfall on textures, particularly natural light" he says, " and using reference material on file as regards uniform colouring."
