Labhair Muireann Ní Mhuirthile agus a máthair, Bairbre ar an gclár Tús Áite ar RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta faoi na cúiseanna nach bhfuil fón aici agus nach bhfuil ceann uaithi.
According to the latest data, Muireann is one of the very few sixteen year olds who doesn't have a smart phone and doesn't want one either. When asked why she doesn't have one, Muireann says she doesn't have one because she doesn't need one. When pressed further, she said 'is treise na buntáistí ná na míbhuntáistí', the advantages far outweigh the advantages.
Bairbre, Muireann's mother says if Muireann had wanted a phone she would have gotten one. Muireann says she doesn't feel left out of social circles at school as if she needs to get in touch with friends, she has access to her mother's phone, if she needs to.

Tugann cuid mhór tuismitheoirí fóin dá gcuid déagóirí chun go mbeadh 'fhios acu cá bhfuil siad ach deir Bairbre go mbraitheann siadsan ar socruithe a dhéantar sula bhfágann Muireann an teach agus go dtí seo go n-oibríonn sé amach dóibh.
Bairbre, Muireann's mother, says she undestands their situation will probably change in the future but for the time being, they're all happy with her not having a phone. Muireann acknowledges that if she had a smart phone she would probably become addicted to it. Deir sí gur sin cuid den chúis nach bhfuil fón uaithi i láthair na huaire, le smacht a choinneáil uirthi féin.
