How to write your Christmas cards as Gaeilge

Any chance to put down the phone is welcome these days, right? Writing Christmas cards is one of those rare opportunities for many of us to suí síos gan aon scáileán.

You don't have to be fluent to use your Gaeilge in your Christmas cards or at any other occasion. Here are a few greetings to share the Christmas cheer or to tell someone they're on your mind this year.

1. Nollaig mhór mhaith duit!

Merry Christmas/Happy Christmas

2. Nollaig faoi shéan agus faoi mhaise duit!

Merry Christmas/Happy Christmas

3. Guím gach rath agus séan ort san athbhliain.

I wish you a happy and prosperous new year.

4. Go mbeirimid beo ar an am seo arís

A real classic way of toasting good health for the next year.

5. Athbhliain faoi mhaise duit!

Happy New Year!
