Whether we are living through a golden age for Gaeilge is debatable but this year's An Post Irish Book Awards feature more Gaeilge than ever before, with books as Gaeilge and about Gaeilge across the categories.
For the first time since the inception of the An Post Book Awards, 20 years ago, an Irish language book has broken the Gaeilge glass ceiling and made it out of the Irish language category and into the shortlist for Children's Book of the Year (Junior). The breakthrough book is An Fia sa Choill by Sadhbh Devlin.
Tá céim stairiúil bainte amach san fhoilsitheoireacht Ghaeilge inniu agus gearrliosta Leabhar Páistí na Bliana (do Shóisir) bainte amach ag leabhar Gaeilge. Seo an chéad uair, ó cuireadh tús le Irish Book Awards scór bliain ó shin, a bhain leabhar Gaeilge gearrliosta taobh amuigh den chatagóir Ghaeilge amach.

The huge appetite for Irish and learning Irish is illustrated in other categories too. In the Best Irish-Published Book of the Year, Hector Ó hEochagáin's An Irish Word A Day is shortlisted alongside the late Manchán Magan's Ninety-Nine Words for Rain. The Listener's Choice Award also features The Gaeilge Guide by Mollie Guidera.
Tá an Ghaeilge agus an spéis mhór atá léirithe ag daoine i bhfoghlaim na teanga léirithe freisin i gcatagóirí eile. Sa chatagóir dar teideal Best Irish-Published Book of the Year, tá An Irish Word A Day le Hector Ó hEochagáin agus an leabhar deireanach a d'fhoilsigh Manchán Magan Ninety-Nine Words for Rain. I gcatagóir Listener's Choice, tá The Gaeilge Guide le Mollie Guidera.
Fógrófar na buaiteoirí Déardaoin, 27 Samhain i mBaile Átha Cliath. Cuirfidh Oliver Callan clár teilifíse speisialta i láthair a chraolfar ar an 11 Nollaig.
