IMRAM ag léiriú Buile Shuibhne i gCorcaigh

Suibhne Geilt. Íomhá le Margaret Lonergan.
Suibhne Geilt. Íomhá le Margaret Lonergan.

Téacs iontach ón Meánaois é Buile Shuibhne ina suíonn prós agus filíocht le chéile. Cuireann Rónán, cléireach, mallacht ar rí Ultach, Suibhne, agus téann an rí bocht le craobhacha.

Is éan nó leathéan é dar leis agus canann sé duanta buile faoina chuid trioblóidí go léir nó é ag moladh an dúlra gan staonadh.

Sa léiriú drámata seo tá leaganacha nua i nGaeilge, i mBéarla agus i nGàidhlig ó Rody Gorman, chomh maith le ceol beo leis an chumadóir Seán MacErlaine agus an t-amhránaí Diane Ní Channain, agus teilgfidh Margaret Lonergan íomhánna ar scáileán mór.

Buile Shuibhne – or Sweeney's Madness – is a medieval tale in prose and poetry that describes how Suibhne, an Ulster King, is cursed by the cleric Rónán, and subsequently goes mad.

Thinking himself to be a bird, he takes to wandering the wilderness, reciting poems that evoke his suffering, or praise nature.

Seán MacErlaine

This multi-media staging of Sweeney's Madness features modern Irish, English and Scottish Gaelic versions by poet Rody Gorman, from his recently published Sweeney: An Intertonguing.

Live music by composer Seán MacErlaine and singer Diane Ní Channain; and screen projections by artist Margaret Lonergan.
