In the ninth episode in the current series of broadcaster Sean O'Rourke’s RTÉ podcast, Insights, Sean sits down with Éamon Ó Cuív. Éamon wears a lot of hats in his everyday life, he is a former Government Minister and TD, former Co-op Manager, campaigner, Gaeilgeoir and prison negotiator.

In the far-reaching conversation the former Galway West TD reveals he could well have been a Dublin TD having been born in the Capital’s Dublin 4 but his love of the Irish language was one of the many reasons he moved to the west of Ireland.
"I grew up in Pembroke Park which is Donnybrook, Ballsbridge area, I went to school in Mount Merrion and in fact, I passed RTÉ on my way to school over many years. I went to college in UCD so I'd never actually lived in a really rural area until I went to Conamara."
"But obviously in the family background there was a big interest in the Irish language, on both sides of the family. My father’s family were very involved in the Irish language and my father, himself was a Professor of Irish, so Irish was very much in the background and an interest in Irish as a spoken language."
