Mickey Joe Harte is back with a bang, as Gaeilge

More than 20 years after his big hit, Donegal man Mickey Joe Harte has made a return and recorded We've Got the World Tonight in Irish with Today FM to raise funds for Focus Ireland.

Featuring Cathal Minogue and both Dermot and Dave from Today FM as glamorous backing singers, they've translated the hit song to Is Linne an Domhan Anocht. We particularly enjoyed the lyrical seanfhocal, níl saoi gan locht, a version of nobody is perfect making an appearance in the song.

Mar a tharla le go leor leor amhráin Bhéarla tríd na blianta, aistríodh go Gaeilge é agus is léir gur thug sé saol nua don amhrán. Ón méid a fheiceann agus a chloiseann muid, tá fuinneamh agus craic le sonrú sa taifead. B'fhéidir go leanfaidh an t-amhrán seo múnla The Coronas le Taibhsí nó Laochra, amhrán a chastar go minic i nGaeilge anois, seachas an bunleagan Gaeilge.

Harte took the song as far as the Eurovision in 2003 and has a special place in the minds of us millennials. We are happy to report the song, 20 years later, as Gaeilge, is still a bop.

Most importantly, the money raised from the release of the song is going to Focus Ireland
