4 weeks ago, Michael Fry, Marissa Carter and Marty Morrissey took on their own specific challenges to use the Irish they had in their own ways, supported by their mentors, members of Beo ar Éigean.
Since then, the three have learned a lot about the language, those who speak it, the community of the Gaeltacht and about their own relationship with the language.
Comedian and writer Michael Fry spoke about his desire to understand the nuances of the Irish language when it came to humour and fun. Michael attended a Pop-up Gaeltacht and joined Beo ar Éigean on their podcast they recorded live at Oireachtas na Samhna, the biggest annual get together of Irish speakers. Having set himself the challenge of writing one of his renowned sketches as Gaeilge, he is what he produced, with the help of his mentor, Áine Ní Bhreisléain.

Journalist and broadcaster, Marty Morrissey wanted to learn more Irish as his late father was a fluent speaker and it made him feel more connected to him. Speaking about the journey with his mentor, Sinéad Ní Uallacháin, Morrissey said he was willing to get out there and feel vulnerable in order to learn more Irish.
He took a trip to West Belfast to meet with Laochra Loch Lao, the Irish-speaking GAA club and was fascinated by their passion for sport and the community of Irish speakers they have nurtured.
Lá iontach caite le @MartyM_RTE sa Cheathrú Gaeltachta inniu agus é ar cuairt ar @LaochraLochLao maidir lena aistear #Gaeilge. Was great to take Marty around the Gaeltacht Quarter today.

Marty challenged himself to do one of his links at the GAA All Star awards as Gaeilge and here's how he got on:

Beauty entrepreneur, Marissa Carter attended a Gaelscoil and spoke Irish daily when she was at school but since her use of the language became less frequent, she found her Gaeilge rusty. Within two weeks however, Marissa found her confidence again and was excited to use her Irish at home with her two children, as well as on social media.
Marissa set herself the challenge of doing a live makeup demo on RTÉ's Today Show with her mentor, Siún Ní Dhuinn. Here's how Marissa got on:
