Braon i mbéal na gaoithe- 5 beautiful words for awful weather

TG4's newest weather presenter, Donncha Ó Murchú spoke to Bláthnaid Treacy on her new show, StaidAir ar 2FM about the job and his favourite phrases for pretty bad weather.

Donncha, who is originally from Dublin told Bláthnaid about his interest in Irish and how he got the gig presenting the weather on TG4. Dúirt sé go raibh neart le foghlaim, ó chúrsaí smididh go téarmaí aimsire, nuair a thosaigh sé sa ról nua.

Ó Murchú said, like most students leaving secondary school he didn't know what he wanted to do, and thought he would end up teaching Irish but has since learned there are many more career options for those who love Irish.

Bláthnaid asked Donncha what were his favourite new terms for the weather and here's a round up of what he mentioned:

Scrabhaiteach- showery

Aimsir dhuibheacach- bitter weather

braon i mbéal na gaoithe- spitting rain

goimh na gaoithe- a sharp, cold wind

feanntach- freezing cold

Éist le StaidAir le Bláthnaid Treacy ón Luan- Déardaoin idir 8pm agus 10pm ar 2FM.
