Meitheal- The true meaning of our national celebration.

It's a St. Patrick's Day like no other; no parades, no parties, no pubs but we still have each other and thanks to technology, we can still keep the national spirits lifted.

Meitheal is often used as the perfect term to describe how Ireland works best, in communities caring for each other. This sense of meitheal is how we're doing what we've been asked to do in 'pulling together by keeping apart', in order to try and control Covid-19 in Ireland.

It's not an easy task but today, on Lá 'le Pádraig, people from all over the country gave us a few lines of Óró 'Sé Do Bheatha Abhaile, in voice, in bells, from gardens and in kitchens to lift our hearts. Ó Mhuireann Nic Amhlaoibh i gCorca Dhuibhne go hEvanne Ní Chuilinn i mBaile Átha Cliath, tá an tír lán le ceol inniu.
